If you need the sofa for guests that evening, say so before booking. A morning appointment leaves more time to check the result and continue drying, but it is not a guarantee that every item will be ready that afternoon. If the timing is inflexible, choose another day rather than relying on the quickest possible estimate.

Why two sofas can dry at different speeds

• Construction: a fabric cover and the filling beneath it do not necessarily dry together. Thick seams and areas between cushions can need extra attention.
• Material: the care label and a suitability check determine whether wet cleaning is appropriate at all. A drying plan cannot make an unsuitable cleaning method safe.
• Previous treatment: tell us if you have already soaked the item or used a home machine. Moisture from before the visit also matters.
• Room conditions: airflow and humidity affect evaporation. A still room is different from one where air can circulate around the furniture.

What an air mover does, and what it cannot promise

An air mover keeps air travelling across the cleaned upholstery. It supports drying after extraction; it does not replace extraction or prove that the inner padding is dry. A surface that feels ready first is not a reason to ignore a damp seam or underside.

What to do after the visit

1. Follow the drying instructions agreed for the item and keep air circulating around it.
2. Keep throws, bedding and protective covers off until drying is complete.
3. Avoid using the sofa while it is still damp. Keep children and pets away from equipment and cables during the work.
4. Do not apply another wet product because a mark looks different before drying is finished.
5. Tell us if an area remains noticeably damp or an odour becomes stronger. Include photographs and explain what changed.

Opening windows is not automatically the best choice in every room or in rainy weather. Discuss the available ventilation or air conditioning with the cleaner. Do not put wet cushions on a balcony where rain, direct heat or an unsafe position creates another problem.

Can I sit on it the same day?

Possibly, but do not plan around that without an assessment. Use it once drying is complete, following the instructions given for your sofa.

Is a damp sofa proof that cleaning went wrong?

Some remaining moisture after wet extraction is expected. The useful questions are how much remains, where it is and whether it is drying as expected. Report concerns instead of adding more water or fragrance.

What is the difference between drying and stain removal?

A mark can become easier to judge after drying. Faster drying does not remove permanent discolouration, and more wet passes are not always the right response.
